Etheron Hosting has taken major steps this year. We moved to new datacenters, integrated multiple parties and customers, made our infrastructure faster and larger, and delivered stable platforms for thousands of players and creators. In this article, we walk you through the most important developments.
New datacenters in Amsterdam
Moving from Qupra to NorthC and Databarn
This year, we completely moved our infrastructure out of Qupra Amsterdam. All of our servers are now located in two modern, ISO-certified datacenters in Amsterdam: NorthC and Databarn.
We made this move deliberately to offer our customers higher reliability, better scalability, and an even more professional environment. Both datacenters meet strict requirements in the areas of information security, continuity, and power supply.
Databarn: focus on information security
Databarn provides certified colocation services and is ISO 27001:2014 certified, among other things. This standard focuses specifically on information security and ensures that data is handled with care and that processes are continuously improved.
As Databarn describes it themselves:
This certification is a globally recognized standard that focuses specifically on information security. This means that Databarn follows strict protocols and procedures to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, including data stored in our datacenters.
In addition, their air conditioning and UPS systems meet the standards of the datacenter industry. Systems and staff are regularly tested and trained. For our customers, that translates directly into stability and reliability.
Acquisitions and customer migrations
Taking over customers from StackIP
At the beginning of this year, we took over customers from StackIP. Over the past months, these customers have been migrated to our own network and our own server infrastructure.
Thanks to this migration, they now benefit from the same standards we apply to all of our services: high uptime, modern hardware, well-configured security, and direct access to our support.
Freaze Hosting and Serverbuilds
In addition to the StackIP customers, we also acquired the hosting companies Freaze Hosting and Serverbuilds. For these brands, we are working on new websites where we will offer our hosting services under a recognizable and clear proposition.
This is still very much a work in progress. The customers are already running on our infrastructure and are benefiting from our quality. Our goal is to be fully live with the renewed websites and product offerings early next year.
Faster web hosting with LiteSpeed
Our web servers were upgraded to LiteSpeed this year. This is modern web server software optimized for high performance and efficient handling of web traffic.
For our customers, this means:
- Faster loading times for websites, even with higher visitor numbers
- More efficient use of server resources
- A future-proof foundation for new optimizations and caching techniques
With this upgrade, we are making sure our web hosting is ready for the years ahead, both in terms of speed and scalability.
Growth in dedicated servers
The number of dedicated servers at Etheron continued to grow this year. We now have more than one hundred dedicated servers live.
Dedicated servers are ideal for customers who need maximum control, performance, and stability. Think of large websites, platforms, game servers, applications, or internal business environments.
In the coming period, we will keep investing in:
- New server hardware
- Further standardization of our platform
- Expanding our range of dedicated and custom solutions
This way, we aim to meet the demand for powerful and reliable dedicated solutions even better.
Major network upgrades in preparation
Alongside our server capacity, we are working behind the scenes on major network upgrades. This includes, among other things:
- In-house anti-DDoS filtering
- Greater network capacity and better redundancy
With our own DDoS filtering, we can respond to attacks faster and fine-tune more precisely which traffic is allowed through and which is not. This increases the stability and security of our services, especially for high-traffic projects such as game servers and livestreams.
Transparency with a status page and Looking Glass
New shared status page
For PING64 (our whitelabel name), we launched a new shared status page:
On this page, you can see the status of:
- Our network
- Our servers
- Any ongoing or planned maintenance work
In the event of outages or maintenance, we will post updates here. That way, you always have one central place to check whether everything is working properly and whether there are any known issues.
Looking Glass: test the connectivity yourself
For those who want to dive deeper into the technical side, there is our Looking Glass tool:
With this tool, you can test the connectivity to our network yourself. Think of ping, traceroute, or route information from our network to your location.
Together with the status page, we want to be as transparent as possible about our infrastructure, performance, and any issues. That gives you insight and confidence.
Creatorsmp: two rock-solid seasons
This year, we once again hosted two seasons of the Creatorsmp: a large Minecraft project featuring content creators who are active on YouTube and Twitch.
A few highlights:
- Eighty content creators played on our servers for three weeks
- There were no interruptions or major outages during the seasons
- The finale broadcast ran on our infrastructure, bringing all individual streams together into one big show
